Facial Exercises

You may be worried by the thought of sagging jowls, crow’s feet or frown lines – probably long before you need to be. Luckily, there's something you can do to give yourself fresher, more youthful looks and all it will cost is a bit of your time.

Facial exercise is the non-invasive approach to lifting and toning your facial features.  Facial exercise increases the amount of oxygen to the facial muscles and helps rejuvenate the cells, giving your face a younger and healthier appearance.

Doing the right facial exercises regularly can lift and tone your whole face - including your chin, cheeks, and eyebrows - and what's more, it should take no more than just a few minutes of your day.

How do facial exercises work?

To understand just how facial muscle exercise works, you first need to understand what wrinkles and lines are. You may assume that wrinkles are the result of the skin stretching - but the truth is that they form when the underlying muscles are no longer able to support the skin properly.

Face muscles are connected to both the skin and the bone, forming a cushion for the skin to rest on. It's when our face muscles start to lose their tone that wrinkles and lines appear. Luckily facial exercise can tone up those muscles resulting in smoother, healthier and younger looking skin.

Does it cause wrinkles?

It's also a popular misconception that facial exercises actually cause wrinkles. This simply isn't true. When facial exercises are done properly, you'll look far better than before. It is important to remember, though, that just as with any other kind of exercise, facial exercise can cause problems if done incorrectly.  Facial exercises have been around for much longer than cosmetic surgery and are proven to work when done properly.

Will it  really look like a facelift?

While facial exercises are often known as face lift exercises, the results aren't as dramatic.  But, if you do the right exercises regularly the difference in your face will be good enough to make facial exercise a viable alternative to cosmetic surgery - and it's certainly less traumatic. The real beauty of facial exercise is that, unlike cosmetic surgery, it's free and painless.

Unlike cosmetic surgery too - you won't need to undergo a second painful procedure after 5-10 years as gravity undoes the surgeon's work.  If you keep your face muscles toned and lifted naturally then the results will endure for as long as you continue to do the exercises.

Facial exercise also brings extra oxygen to the skin's surface reducing toxins and enhancing the delivery of essential nutrients.  The result is more youthful looking skin that glows.  You certainly won't get that from cosmetic surgery.

Do I need to do them every day?

Yes to start with.  In order to bring face muscles back up to speed you'll need to do your facial exercises every day.  Once you've reached the desired affect  then exercising your facial muscles three times a week will be sufficient to maintain the improvement.  How long it takes to get to the optimum level of tone and lift depends on how weak your face muscles are when you start.  Best to expect anything from 2-3 months of daily facial exercises.

That may sound a long time but in reality facial exercise is an activity you can carry out anywhere - without special equipment - and which will probably take around half an hour each session. How many of us wouldn't be prepared to give up such a small amount of our time for a real improvement in our looks?
