Perricone MD Light Renewal a match for Baby Quasar?

perriconemd light renewal Perricone MD Light Renewal a match for Baby Quasar? The Perricone MD launch of a new LED portable device recently was no surprise to anyone. Dr Perricone after all was one of the first and loudest champions of LED light therapy and its revolutionary skin firming results.

What is more surprising is that the Perricone MD Light Renewal device hit the market so much later than the leading product Baby Quasar. What took him so long?

Since this review was written – you should be aware that Perricone MD Light Renewal may have been withdrawn from the market.  Shame as it seemed to be a good product.  We’ll bring you further updates as we get them.

For anyone thinking of buying a hand held LED device – Perricone MD Light Renewal ranks alongside Baby Quasar for serious consideration. But how does Dr Perricone’s device compare with Baby Quasar and do it’s results justify the price?

Perricone MD LIght Renewal has a bit of an advantage over Baby Quasar right there – the price. Coming in at $335 it costs around $100 less than the Baby Q. Price isn’t everything though – even in today’s thrifty times. These beauty tools are really an investment in the future of your face and many of us will pay more to get that right.

Perricone MD Light Renewal has only been on the market a couple of months and there are already an impressive number of very positive comments out there on skin care blogs and forums.

Another plus is the clinical research – Dr Perricone has done his homework and published results from his clinical studies – maybe that’s what took him a bit longer to get the product to market?

“I knew already how the appearance of my skin had changed for the better. Cheeks don’t sag any more, the dark circles under my eyes were gone…Don’t procrastinate like I did. This is an amazing treatment you don’t have “to go out” for! Well worth the cost and highly recommended. I am fighting 50 and looking 40″

The Perricone MD Light Renewal device was tested in a 12 week clinical study and 9 week trials with real users. Results show that from 68% to 84% of users reported improvements in skin tone, fine lines and wrinkles, skin firmness and skin smoothness.

“I love this product. I have used all kinds of topical treatments to fade the spots but this is working after only a few weeks of treatment. NOT TO FORGET the other issues that are improving….skin tone rosier ,lines softening, skin tone firmer…love it!! I forgot to mention under eyes circles fading!!” Review from user on skin care site.

For LED skin treatment to work – skin has to be clean and with no oily residue that could create a barrier. The Perricone MD Light Renewal pack comes with sample sizes of a PerriconeMD milky cleanser and serum prep to make sure your skin is able to get the most from the treatment.

Repeat purchases of the full size versions of these products need to be costed into your skin care regimen – although to be fair – Perricone is not saying you can’t use your normal cleanser and serum. As long as you thoroughly clean all traces of makeup and oil based product from your skin.

My view – if you’re going to put up over $300 for the LED device (see my other article price now cut to $168 at Perricone MD) I think I’d go the extra mile and buy the Perricone MD products recommended to make sure I got the best possible results. Also – using the recommended products means you’re better placed if the device doesn’t work for you.

Perricone MD Light Renewal uses technology from Omnilux one of the biggest suppliers of professional LED skin treatment devices to clinics, spas and dermatologists worldwide. In fact – if you’ve had a salon LED treatment chances are it was with an Omnilux Revive or OmniluxPlus. So Perricone’s home use device has a great pedigree – at least equal to Baby Quasar.

The Perricone MD unit is electrical – there are no batteries to replace. The LED’s will need replacing at some point but they have an estimated life-span of around 5 years with normal use. The LED panel itself is flat and enclosed in a sturdy plastic case unlike the Baby Quasar which is high grade aluminium.

Using the Perricone MD device is different to the Baby Quasar. You treat one side of your face at a time for 20 minutes – left hand side on Monday, right hand side on Tuesday then repeat on Wednesday and Thursday but up the time limit to 30 minutes. You do this every week for a month and you can repeat the treatment cycle after that if you wish to maintain the benefits.

As the Perricone MD Light Renewal LED panel is larger than the Baby Quasar – you don’t have to follow a set sequence to treat each area of your face in turn. the advantage here is that you could relax in front of the TV or lie on your bed whilst you do your treatment.

With the Baby Quasar you are going to have to concentrate more and – at least to start with – you may need to look in a mirror to see what you’re doing. So – overall I would say a slight plus to Perricone MD for ease of use.

The instructions and help given with the Perricone MD unit are quite minimal probably because it is so easy to use. Baby Quasar definitely has better documentation but it probably needs it. Having said that – neither system is highly technical or complicated and most people seem to be able to work out how to get great results with the Perricone MD Light Renewal or Baby Quasar.

When it comes down to a final choice it is very difficult. I believe you won’t waste your money with either of these home LED devices. My very slight preference – if you can afford it – is probably for the Baby Quasar.

But if you want to save yourself $100 and get great results with a well researched and quality system then buy the Perricone MD Light Renewal.
