Microcurrent facials at home

home microcurrent 150x150 Microcurrent facials at homeThe microcurrent face lift is definitely one of the hottest anti aging treatments around at the moment.

If botox was the must have anti aging treatment of the nineties – microcurrent face lifts and LED are the anti aging technologies of the future.

And the good news is that microcurrent treatments work – try to find bad reviews of skin clinic microcurrent treatments and you will spend a long time searching.

But what about doing your microcurrent face lift at home – can you get a hand held device for home use and will you get the same results?

For most of us the downsides of many skin clinic treatments are cost and time. Professional microccurrent machines are very expensive – upwards of $10,000 – skin clinics and spas need to make that investment pay so the charge per microcurrent session is relatively high.

Microcurrent treatments – like many other non invasive approaches – requires ongoing maintenance to be really effective. So that means regular repeat visits for your top up microcurrent sessions and more strain on your budget AND your already over stretched diary.

Unless you live very close by – travel time is added to treatment time and what seemed like just a one hour session turns into the morning gone.

A hand held microcurrent device to use whenever you want without going anywhere sounds like a great idea. You could literally do the whole thing yourself or combine initial clinic based treatments with maintenance at home.

You might have guessed things wouldn’t be that easy and you’d be right. There are some difficulties currently with do-it-yourself microcurrent face lifts. The first problem is availability – there just isn’t a lot of choice in the US market for home microcurrent systems at the moment. Things are different in Europe where microcurrent facials have been around a lot longer.

It’s difficult to understand why there is so little choice – compared with LED technology where you can select from several excellent home based products.

There is one home microcurrent system launched earlier this year which is – not surprisingly – dominating the market. The good news is that it has had fantastic user feedback so far.

So – can home systems really work as well as microcurrent treatment at a skin clinic? The answer has to be a qualified “no” but then you can’t really expect them to.

Salon microcurrent machines are effective because they allow an esthetician to vary the current and frequency to target different muscles in different areas. It would be difficult to include this sort of precise control in a hand held home microcurrent device at a cost we would be willing to pay.

Having said that – home microcurrent systems do a great job of lifting, toning and firming your face. I have had microcurrent facials in a salon and I also use a home microcurrent device – unfortunately not currently available in the US. I know from my own experience that this technology works at home as well as in the clinic.

Having your own microcurrent system means you can maintain your salon treatments easily at home and keep costs down. In fact – I did things the other way round. I started with the home based system first and was so impressed I took myself off to a local salon for professional treatments as well.

Now the credit crunch is with us I am so glad I have the option of the hand held machine which lets me do maintenance without the cost of the beauty clinic!

So I would recommend a hand held microcurrent device and the NuFace system is the obvious one to go for in the US. There’s a full review of NuFace coming shortly on this site and I am impressed with what I’ve seen so far.

Home based microcurrent face lifts are definitely here to stay and NuFace will probably be the first of many devices offering this new technology at an affordable price.
