Facial exercises: three to try

neck_exercise-150x150 Facial exercises: three to tryFacial exercise is a great anti aging treatment that actually works.

Facial workouts strengthen and tone the underlying muscles of the face restoring definition to facial features and lifting sagging skin.

For facial exercises to work effectively you need to follow a proper program - learn to do them correctly and make sure you repeat them regularly.

To start with you’ll need to exercise your facial muscles every day. When you’ve restored tone and lift you can move to a maintenance program 2-3 times a week.
It’s just like going to the gym only it doesn’t cost you anything and you can stay at home!

When you do facial exercises if your nails are long wear soft cotton gloves to avoid scratching your face; keep relaxed throughout and sit in front of a mirror as you exercise.

Pause and breathe deeply between each repetition. Don’t expect to get the exercise straight off - you probably need a bit of practice before you can do each exercise easily.

Here’s three free facial exercises to have a go at:

Stop eyelid droop

Curve your index fingers (first finger on each hand) and place them just under each eyebrow following the eyebrow shape.

Gently push up with your fingers, raising your brows slightly and hold in that position. Close your eyes without moving your fingers or eyebrows. Move the upper eyelid downwards over your eyes in small movements as slowly as you can.

You should feel a gentle stretch on the upper lids. When your eyelids are fully closed over your eye at full stretch - hold for a count of six. Count to three as you gently release the stretch and open the eye. Repeat three times.

Remove Frown Lines

Place the pads of your middle fingers at the top of the bridge of your nose just below any lines or bumps.
Place your index (first) fingers each side of the bridge of your nose - just below your middle finger. Hold both fingers firmly but gently. Gradual move the muscles under the fingers in an upward direction. Try to make four or five tiny upward movements.

Hold for a count of five then return in four slow steps. Repeat three times. Keep relaxed at all times and avoid scowling.

Eliminate “turkey neck”

Keep your spine straight and look straight ahead with your head tilted up so your face is slightly raised towards the ceiling.

Push out your chin and draw your lower lip over the top lip. Don’t smile. Place your fist under you chin with the rolled up fingers pointing towards you. Now without opening your mouth press your tongue firmly forwards and upwards against your lower teeth. You should be able to feel the muscle working under your chin. Hold for a count of five. Slowly release and then repeat three times.

If you repeat these exercises daily for six weeks you should see great improvements. Add a complete facial exercise program and you’ll see results that other people will notice too!
